Chara is a two way floorstanding speaker.
Chara is a bass-reflex cabinet loudspeaker with drivers of Wavecor .
The kit is delivered with the following drivers: - a Wavecor TW030WA13 tweeter - two Wavecor WF120CU07 woofers
The loudspeaker has been developed by Dennis Frank and Daniel Gattig.
The crossover consists of: - a 2nd order high-pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) for the tweeter. - a 2nd order low-pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) for the woofer.
The frequency response of this speaker is perfectly linear.
The decay spectrum is nearly perfect.
At low volume, i.e. 85 dB at 1 m, the nonlinear distortions are below 0,4% above 500 Hz and doesn't exceed 0,7% at 95 dB at 1 m between 300 and 15000 Hz.
"The Chara shows an absolutely impressive behavior in the listening room: The low-frequency performance predicted on the basis of the measurements is far more impressive in reality: the two 5”-drivers move a lot of air and do not appear as lifeless as some heavy hard cones, but actually work fast and dynamically, as we have expirienced from much larger paper cones. Sure - in terms of absolute loudness, the limit is not set as high as with two PA-15”s, but the continuous level, with which you can listen without stressing the loudspeakers and your own hearing, is really more than satisfactory. There is also only good news to report above the bass department: the measured straight frequency response is converted into a neutral and very transparent midrange and high-frequency reproduction, which reproduces everything from singer-songwriters to late-romantic symphony orchestras with equal quality. The dynamic range is large enough to play back uncompressed recordings in full bandwidth - important especially for classical music. On the other hand, the Chara is also good-natured enough to treat less appealing music productions "graciously." The spatial representation is absolutely three-dimensional in width and height due to the symmetrical chassis arrangement, but ideally you should sit with your ear on the tweeter level. Quantitatively, the direct sound component of the tweeter can be adjusted well by turning the boxes - thus, it can be regulated from fresh to soft, but always precise and airy. "

The high-end kit is delivered with baked varnish air core coils on important parts of the crossover for minimizing microphonic effects. - The current flow through the coil creates a magnetic field which sets the reel of wire in motion. This motion induces a voltage in the coil which adds itself to the signal. The stiffer the reel of wire is, the less the signal will be altered. The capacitors for the Wavecor TW030WA13 are of type polypropylen (MKP) Mundorf Mcap Supreme EVO Öl 800 V.
